What CranioSacral Therapy Is
Stillness Over Pressure

What CranioSacral Therapy Is

CranioSacral therapy is a light-touch, whole-body technique that works with the craniosacral system, the membranes and fluid around the brain and spinal cord. The touch is closer to a held stillness than a massage stroke: a few grams of pressure, long quiet holds, and time for the body to settle.

People often choose it for headaches, ongoing neck and back tension, and the kind of stress that won't switch off. It suits anyone who finds deep pressure too much and wants something quieter.

What a CranioSacral Session Looks Like

The pace is unhurried from the first minute; stillness is the treatment, not a warm-up for it.

  1. 1

    A Short Intake

What brings you in, your history, and anything a doctor is already involved with. This decides whether craniosacral is the right fit today.
  2. 2

    Settling In

You rest on the table, comfortable and supported. The room stays quiet, and there's nothing you need to do.
  3. 3

    Light, Sustained Holds

Gentle contact at the head, spine and sacrum, held rather than stroked. Most people drift; some fall asleep.
  4. 4

    Afterwards

Take your time getting up. People often feel calm and a little floaty; water and an easy pace afterwards help.

Who You See and Where

Our Approach to CranioSacral Work

Sessions come from a Registered Massage Therapist, and expectations stay honest: this is gentle, supportive care, and how people respond varies from person to person. If your symptoms point to something that needs a physician, I'll say so and point you the right way. Find us at 16 Bristol Ave in Dovercourt Village, in Toronto's west end. If you're weighing craniosacral against a regular massage, ask and we'll talk it through.

Common Questions About CranioSacral Therapy

What does it feel like?

Very light contact, long stillness, and usually a deep drop into relaxation. If you came expecting kneading, the quiet surprises people; give it ten minutes.

Do I get undressed?

No. You stay fully clothed for craniosacral work, so wear something comfortable.

Is there science behind it?

The research is mixed, and I'm straight with people about that. Many find the sessions deeply calming, and that's the honest basis to try it on: gentle, supportive care, not a cure.

How many sessions will I need?

There's no set course. Some people feel settled after one; others make it a regular reset. We see how you respond and go from there.

Is it covered by insurance?

When delivered by an RMT, many Ontario extended health plans treat it as massage therapy. Your receipt has the details your insurer needs.
